Elle for Elle Charity or Women Empowering Women
Elle for Elle is a non- profit organisation based in the UK, aiming to help women who have experienced domestic violence in Manchester and its surrounding areas. According to UK National Statistics, the police recorded 599,549 domestic abuse-related crimes in the year ending March 2018. This was an increase of 23% from the previous year. Sadly, many women still feel threatened and too scared to reach out for help, and there is no doubt that the actual number of women affected by domestic violence is much higher than the police have recorded.
Often women leave their homes with no possessions and with their small children in order to stay in a refuge for safety. Some families have to stay in a refuge centre for up to one year before they are able to move on to their own home. These women have been abused mentally, physically and financially; they need all the support possible in order to be able to recover and find their inner strength, self- esteem and confidence once again.
Elle for Elle is an amazing charity that is run by two very inspiring and kind women, Lynette Page-Collin and Rachel O’Hare, who give their hearts, energy and time to support and help women in need. They provide them with the absolute basics such as shampoo or hygienic pads to counselling, education and training.
It was a great honour to participate in the Elle for Elle Moroccan- themed Charity Ball 2019 on Friday 13th September. It was a magical event featuring belly dancers, fire performers, magicians and singers and it attracted many influential people, well- known leading businesses and local media. As a result, during the night Elle for Elle managed to raise a great amount of money by selling raffle tickets and running live auction which had amazing prizes as VIP weekend Coachella tickets or 7 nights villa holidays in Bali.
